In this article, we’re gonna be making a DIY terrarium. This product is easy for me, I got all the items from Amazon.com, which is super easy to find, you don’t have to go to any fancy gardening store to get the items.
Let’s get started. Here are the items you need to build your succulent glass terrarium;
So we’re going to start layering our items. The first layer will be sand. we’re going to start by pouring some sand into our container. Depending on how big is your container, you’re going to be putting more or less off your layers.

Once we have all the sand we need in our container, we’re going to proceed to put our second layer, which is our rocks. There are different type of rocks that you can find. So basically, you just pick the ones that you like the most, I picked this kind of marble looking rocks because I thought they will look really good with our white sand.
When building a terrarium, you can pick the color of your rocks, as well as the color of your sand. I think, these pair works really well together.
Layer your rocks really carefully. We’re going to place the rocks on top of the sand and I say carefully because we don’t want them to sink.

Quick Tip: when you put your gravel, just put a little layer. You don’t want to over do it because otherwise all the water will just leak in it and because it is rock, it doesn’t absorb the water and it could create a bad odour.
The next step will be to put our moss, just a thin layer. When you’re building a terrarium, it’s really important that you see all your layers, it creates that terrarium effect and it looks really cool! You will be able to see each items that you put in.
Because of the shape of this container, it will get a little bit hard to put your fingers in and create the layer. So I would recommend to use regular tweezers to facilitate putting the layers. The moss can be a little difficult to work with. But with the tweezers, you’ll work it out perfectly.

The next layer it’s going to be our soil. I’m just going to be using a small spoon to put my soil into the container because they are really small containers. If you’re using a bigger container, you won’t run into this problem.

This is what we got so far,

Once you have your layers like this, you’re going to proceed to put your succulent plant.

Quick Tip: When removing succulent plants from another pot, be really careful as you do not want to break the root of the plant. Don’t force, just feel the plant and remove the soil around it.
The next step, if you want to, you can add some moss, or rocks for decoration. I decided to put another layer of sand on top and we’re gonna fill it up in this geometric container.

So there you have it, your DIY succulent glass terrarium. Now, you just have to find a nice spot to place your terrarium and that’s it!

A final little tip to take care of terrarium only water every two to three weeks. You don’t want to over water it because you’re gonna end up killing the succulents. And these are really easy plants to take care of. They barely need water and you don’t have to worry a lot about the sun or where to place them into your house.
